The meaning behind this work….

It won't always be this hard.

It's just a season.

This too shall pass.

Somedays will be harder than others.

You'll have great days and days where you just watch the clock.

If you're in a tough season right now, take to heart that it's just that, a season. The good thing about seasons is they change. The key is just to outlast the season.

This is me, in the trenches of motherhood finding my feet while severely sleep deprived. Trying to work out how to keep my art business alive and thriving while being a loving and present Mum. Somedays I feel like I've nailed it but most days I'm taking it one nap at a time. Surviving on little sleep and hair that no longer responds to dry shampoo after 5 days. When I get maybe 1-2 hours a day to myself, I have to decide, should I eat, paint, sleep, spend time with my husband or simply wash my hair!

This work was one I was determined to do in those small pockets where I chose to paint. I chose to spend time doing what I love so that I could feel like me again. So, I could feel like I was still capable of producing something beautiful.

She's messy, rough and full of emotion this work. There's a rawness about her just a beautiful determination and gentleness. She's a reminder that this too shall pass.
